Theodore Winthrop Stedman, 95, of Bloomfield, Farmington and Fishers Island, New York died Thursday, (December 14, 2006). Born in Shanghai, China on December 25, 1910, son of Theodore and Molly Stedman of Manchester, VT, he graduated from Chefoo School (Yantai, China) where he was Head Prefect and Captain of the School, Philips Exeter Academy (1929) and Harvard (1933). At Harvard, he was a member of the Owl Club and Hasty Pudding Institute of 1776. He was a vice president of the Hartford National Bank. As chairman of the board of The Junior School, he was instrumental in its move to Renbrook in West Hartford. He also served as chairman of the board of trustees of Miss Porters School and as chairman of the Farmington Historic District Commission. He served on the vestry of Saint James Episcopal Church in Farmington and St. John's Episcopal Church on Fishers Island. He was a member of the Country Club of Farmington and the Fishers Island Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Hallowell Stedman; his sister, Helen Stedman Cluett of Palm Beach, FL; his children, Alexander McDonell of Bend, OR, Heath McDonell Missner of Chicago, IL, Theodore W. Stedman of Newburyport, MA and John H. Stedman of Bloomfield; eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service at St. James Episcopal Church in Farmington at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 96 Oak St., Hartford, CT 06106 or Renbrook School, 2845 Albany Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117. Funeral arrangements are being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.
