Pastor Doug Brushell, 57, of Clay, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Doug was a devoted husband and father, yet his greatest title was "papa" to his six grandchildren. In the late 1970s, Doug was part of the Syracuse music scene. He was involved in the management team of the Todd Hobin Band and was a performer himself. In the mid-1980s, he turned his life to Christ and directed his passion for music to the Kingdom of God. He then founded a company called HIS ministries, where he worked with many national Christian artists. All this work led to his co-founding of Kingdom Bound ministries. Doug was on staff at Believers' Chapel, Cicero, as a worship leader and singles' pastor. He then took a brief sabbatical from pastorship to further his ministry and attend Portland Bible College, where he graduated summa cum laude. After returning, he founded Believers' Chapel of Canastota, where he was senior pastor until his passing. "I'm just an old rock and roller saved by grace." Surviving are his wife of 34 years, the former Marie Alsever; his daughter, Katrina (Fred) Koenig of Chittenango; two sons, Jason (Rebecca) of Clay and Collin (Heather) of Chittenango; six grandchildren: his #1 granddaughter, Alicia, and Carter, Natalie, Emma, Sophia and Ryder; two sisters, Sandy Couch and Linda (David) Felix; two brothers, Jimmy (Joyce) Barber and Gareth (Dee) Wood; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 22, at Believers' Chapel, Cicero, 7912 Thompson Rd., Cicero, NY 13039. BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay, has care of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Believers' Chapel Canastota, 2657 Seneca Trnpk., Canastota, NY 13032.
