Lorraine was born November 1, 1934, in Centerville, Iowa to George and Mable Mary (Murphy)Hammond. She graduated from Moravia High School Class of 1953. She married Gerald Rinehart on January 31, 1953, and to this union, 3 children, Mike, Jim, and Sheila were born. They shared 36 years of marriage before Gerald's passing in 1989.
Lorraine was a homemaker. She also worked for the American Rivet Factory in Albia for 22 years and then worked at the Post Office in Moravia. Lorraine later cleaned houses and business around the Moravia area. She was a member of the Iconium Methodist Church. She had a love for country music. Lorraine was full of life, she enjoyed dancing, playing cards, sled riding and playing various games with her grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her 2 sons Mike (Donna)Rinehart of Centerville, and Jim (Dee)Rinehart of Moravia; a companion, Frank Rinehart of Albia; a special granddaughter, Casey Kool; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mable; her husband, Gerald; a sister, Jean Irwin; a daughter, Sheila Ellison; and a son-in-law Dwayne.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Iconium Methodist Church in Iconium, with Pastor Jerald Morison and Richard Grimes officiating, Burial will be at the Iconium Cemetery in Iconium. Visitation will be 11-87 pm, Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with Lorraine's family present 5-8 pm. Memorials may be made to the Iconium Methodist Church or to Monroe County Hospice.
