Robert "Bob" James Armstrong

Robert "Bob" James Armstrong age 61 of Eatonton, GA passed away peacefully at 1:34 AM on September 15, 2014 at his daughter's house after a short battle with cancer. His family was beside him.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Eatonton First United Methodist Church Great Hall. Interment will be Sunday, September 21, 3 PM at Macon Memorial Park Cemetary. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home in Eatonton, Friday Evening from 6 until 8pm.

Bob was born in Elizabethtown, PA on May 6, 1953 to the late Betty Broucht Farren and the late James Julius Armstrong. He moved to Georgia as a teenager with his Mother and attended Rumble Junior High and Warner Robins High School. He was a graduate of the class of 1971. He loved sports and was a wrestler, played basketball, and had a passion for boxing. He was 1971 Golden Glove Champion. He met Robbie Brown, the true love of his life in High School. Robbie and Bob married in 1971 and had 2 children, Stacy and Lee. The inate boxer that was always inside of him helped him keep the gloves up to battle cancer the past 2 months. He fought hard and was not afraid to do anything possible to try to beat the disease. He attended The University of Georgia and Georgia State University with a focus in Business. He worked for years at Keebler Company in Macon, GA and achieved 1st place recognition for excellence in driving. He later became an insurance salesman and worked many years for Life of Georgia. He received three President's Club Awards from 1992-1995. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Eatonton and deeply loved his Sunday School Class, Roberson Dance. Always smiling and laughing he will be remembered for his caring spirit, love of family, people and life.
He was predeceased by his son of 29 years, Lee Broucht Armstrong, January of 2011.

Surviors include his daughter, Stacy and son-in-law Rusty Brown of Lilburn, GA. 6 grandchildren; Leah, Aubrey, and Baylee Brown and Chantz, Wes and Ashton Armstrong. One niece, Lindsey Gandhi and one sweet puppy, Selena.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Heartland Hospice Foundation, PO Box 10086, Toledo, OH 43699. Heartland was only with us for a short time. They were definitely angels that provided Dad with much love, care and dignity. We could not have completed this journey without them by our sides.
