Rowena Clotine Davidson Barham, age 102, announced on August 7, 2014 that she will live forever.

She was born November 20, 1911 in Boaz, Graves County, Kentucky, to Anderson Bartlett "A.B." Davidson and Lady Ryburn Davidson, the youngest of eight children. In 1918, the family moved into their new two-story homestead on the family farm outside Boaz.

Rowena graduated with a degree in education from Murray State Teachers College in Murray, KY in 1932. She taught one year at Panther Creek School near Mayfield. The following year, she began an illustrious 35-year career teaching first grade at Parkview Elementary in Jackson; she retired in 1966. During that stint, she taught children who subsequently grew up and sent their own children to Mrs. Barham's first-grade class.

Rowena married James T. "J.T." Barham on June 1, 1946 at the Davidson home in Boaz. She and J.T. attended Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, where he was organist for many years. J.T. died on March 2, 1979. Rowena stayed in their house on West Forest Street until she moved to Alexandria Place in 2006.

Rowena is survived by a sister-in-law, Janice Barham Richerson of Jackson; two nephews, Brooks Davidson of Pinckney, MI and John Davidson of Troy, MI; and three nieces, Lady Alice Horton Satterfield of Grand Rapids, MI, Diane Davidson Talbot of San Jose, CA and Gail Davidson Tracy of Fremont, CA.

The family expresses thanks to the caring and supportive family at Alexandria Place in Jackson.

A Memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 23rd at Calvary Baptist Church, 119 Oil Well Road, followed by the Interment of ashes at Highland Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rowena's honor to Calvary Baptist Church to support the education of children.
