Rachel Landreth Snow, 83, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at her home. She was born Feb. 21, 1923, to James Guthrie and Carrie Martin Landreth. She was retired from Lucent Technologies and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and was a faithful member as long as her health permitted. She also loved gardening and working in her flowers. She was known in her community for her famous grape-leaf pickles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Preston Snow; a brother, Delbert Landreth, and a sister, Vaudie Shaw; a son-in-law, Larry Hege, and a grandson, William Harrell. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Hege of Yadkinville, Carolyn (Michael) Harrell of Georgia and Shirley (Bill) Snow of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Teresa Wooten; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mozelle (Lonnie) Mabe of Belews Creek, Nancy Harris of Mount Pleasant and a special sister, Helen (Charles) Scott of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Wallace (Martha) Landreth of Walnut Cove and James (Marie) Landreth of Lexington; several nieces and nephews, including two special nieces, Brenda Nobles and Diane Lindley; special caregivers who have sacrificed their time to help while she was in the hospital and when she returned home, Marie McHone and Diane Lindley. Funeral services for Ms. Snow will be conducted at 6 p.m. today at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Zeno Groce, the Rev. Tim Gammons and the Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Interment will be private. The family would like to express a sincere thanks to the caregivers who have taken care of our mother and granny during her sickness.
