FORMER RESIDENT OF KNOX COUNTY DIED NOV. 22

George L. Baker, Sr., who was born and farmed in Knox County, died at 6:15 o'clock Monday morning, Nov. 22, 1971, at Watkins Rest Home in Shelbina where he has resided for several years. He was 79 years old.

Funeral services were yesterday in the Davis Funeral Home there with the Rev. Stuart York officiating. Burial was in the West Lawn addition of the Shelbina Cemetery.

Surviving are two sons, George L. Baker, Jr., of St. Louis and David Baker of Shelbina, two daughters, Wuaneta, Mrs. Ralph Hammond, and Nancy, Mrs. Holly Gilbert of Shelbina, and 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Earl Baker, of Galesburg, Ili.

Mr. Baker was born Oct. 7, 1892, a son of James and Mary Vance Baker. He lived in Shelby, Monroe and Knox Counties where he farmed. He attended Knox County schools and was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church. He was married Jan, 28, 1913, to Myrtle Rebecca Brown and she preceded him in death in 1963.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, and a grandchild.
