John Sterner Clothier - 92, of Silverdale, PA; formerly of Live Oak, FL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center.He was the loving husband of Clara M. (Harrell) Clothier for 66 years. John was born in Norwood, PA to the late Andrew Jackson Clothier II and the late Mary Ellen (Jones) Clothier.He graduated from Norwood High School, class of 1939. John completed 1 year of schooling in the US Navy. He served as a Sr. Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy for 27 years. John served on a PT boat during WW II and witnessed the carnage at Pearl Harbor. He was a member of Live Oak Church of Christ in Florida where he served as a church deacon for 33 years. In addition to his wife, John is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Lorraine Brenenborg and husband Richard, of Bedminster, Celeste "Rene" Moyer and husband, Dean M., of Silverdale, two sons, Andrew "Keith" Clothier and wife, Meg, of Colmar J. Sterner Clothier and wife, Gail, of Chesapeake, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Clothier of Newark, Del. In addition to his parents, he was precededd in death by his sister, Miriam Brown, and a brother, Andrew Jackson Clothier III. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at North Penn Church of Christ, 300 North Wales Road, North Wales. Burial will take place in Mount Olive Church of Christ Cemetery, Live Oak, Fla. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wills Eye Hospital, 840 Walnut St., Philadelphia, PA 19107.
