Mrs. Alverta Jane Largen of 108 Second Street Richlands, Virginia died Wednesday, May 14th, 2003 at a Richlands, Virginia hospital following an illness of several weeks.

She was born in War, West Virginia and was a daughter of the late James H. and Grace E. Meadows Mullins, Sr., both Richlands natives. She was a 1943 Graduate of Big Creek High School and attended Business College. She had made her home in the Richlands area most of her life and was a member of the Richlands First United Methodist Church.. She was a former secretary for Celanese Corp. at Narrows, Virginia and West Virginia University, a former medical secretary at Clinch Valley Clinic, and a former radio station manager of WRIC in Richlands. She was a member of the Richlands Garden Club serving as secretary for seven years, the Tazewell County Country Club serving as secretary and treasurer of the Ladies Golf Association, and was also a member of the Richlands Junior Womens Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. William M. Largen and one brother, James H. Mullens, Jr.

One Sister, Mrs. Marilyn J. Frasier of Naples, Florida

Three Brothers:

Mr. Archie A. Mullens of Lake Placid, Florida

Mr. Thomas K. Mullens of Naples, Florida

Mr. Jerry K. Mullins of Marco Island, Florida

Many nieces, nephews, an aunt, cousins, and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alverta Jane Largen will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands with Rev. Norman Wilhoit, Rev. Carl Robinson, and Mr. Mike Ratliff officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Pallbearers will be: Tolbert White, Mike Ratliff, Harvey Claypool, Doyle Whitt, Morris Meadows, Malcolm VanDyke, and Robert Burns. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Davis, Les Ballard, and Robert Widener. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands after 7:00 p.m. Sunday. Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands is in charge of arrangements.
