George Eastman grew up in Cornwall, Vermont. He graduated from Middlebury (Vermont) College in 1829, then studied theology before becoming an Episcopal clergyman. In 1832, he was ordained at St. Michael's Church in Marblehead, Massachusetts. He served that community until 1833, when he moved to Connecticut. His work expanded to include teaching and missionary work, and it took him to several states, including Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Kansas. In 1884, he became rector of the Holy Trinity Mission in Benton Falls, Michigan. He held that position until retiring in 1891.
