He was a Revolutionary War soldier, served served in Captain Johnathan Crowell's Co. at Lexington Alarm, and was also in Capt. John Nickerson's Co., Col. Freeman's Regiment when it marched on alarm to Dartmouth and Falmouth in Sept. 1778. He was 5th in line from Edward Bangs, who was one of the recognized founders of Plymouth Colony, having come over on the ship "Anne" in July,1623. Thus, the children of Allen and Rebecca Bangs could trace their ancestry through five Revolutionary soldiers, to two of the Mayflower passengers who came in 1620. He married Rebecca Howes Jan 4,1754.
