John Lewis Gibson, 70, of Rocky Mount, died Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in a Roanoke hospital. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was preceded in death by a daughter, Jodie Lynn Gibson; mother, Edith Eldina Gibson; brother, Joseph Benjamin Gibson. Surviving are his son, Jackie Ray Gibson and fiancée, Vicki Amos; granddaughter, Ashley Lynne Gibson; father, Charlie Robert Gibson; brothers, Robert and Peggy Gibson, Arthur and Gail Gibson; sisters, Martha and Joe Yopp, Ella and Donnie Cooper, Joyce and Larry McGuire, Geneva and Doug Chittum; sister-in-law, Nellie Gibson; special friends, Joyce Ann Gibson, Bobby and Doreen Perdue and Jessica Amos. Graveside services will be conducted from the Dillon Family Cemetery 11 a.m. Saturday, on Webster Road with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday with his family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
