James B. Glidden died at his home in DeKalb township last Friday, December 8. He was born in Clarendon, N.Y, May 10, 1819, and his early days were spent in his native state. There he was married to Miss Juliet Beard in April 1841.
He came to Afton, this county, 39 years ago, where he engaged in farming until he assumed charge of the farms of his cousin, Hon. J. F. Glidden. He retired from business in 1884.
Besides his wife he leaves four children: Orson E., whose residence is unknown; Varnum A. and Frances, wife of George Gowery, both of DeKalb; and Chase E., who is present in the Klondike region.
