Glenwood Littleton Gish, 83, died on September 12, 2014 at his home on Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. Glen was a graduate of the class of 1951 from Jefferson High School in Roanoke, Virginia. He earned a degree in Economics from Roanoke College in 1961 and from the National Graduate Trust School from Northwestern University. He was proud to have served his country in the 1st Infantry Division of the US Army, as a continuous wave radio operator.

From April of 1970 until July of 1993 he was head of the Trust Department of Farmers National Bank of Maryland in Annapolis. In 1994 Glen and his wife Louise retired to their homes at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia and Palm Harbor, Florida.

During Glen's youth he participated in all major sports in the Roanoke Valley, in 1951 he was the captain of the Jefferson High varsity baseball team. He lettered at JHS on the Football, Basketball and Baseball teams. He also played many seasons of fast pitch softball in the Roanoke Valley.

During his lifetime, Glen had a multitude of hobbies and interests including golf, book collecting, birding, listening to blue grass music, and spending time at Smith Mountain Lake. He was also an avid fan of the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Glen and his wife Louise Lucado Gish were married on May 23, 1957 and had a very charm- filled life with 2 wonderful children: Martha Gish-Toney (husband Samuel Toney of Vinton, Virginia) and James Matthew Gish (wife Debbie Hall Gish of Carmel, Indiana) three wonderful grandsons, Matthew Donovan Gish, Zachary Michael Gish, both of Carmel, Indiana, Nicholas Toney of Vinton, Virginia.

Glen was preceded in death by his mother Martha Ann Hogan Gish and his father Oscar Price Gish. He was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Corrinne Pugh, Dorothy Gish, Josephine Fore, Genevieve Gish, Cornelia Flowers and 3 brothers, Ira Gish, Marshall Gish and Edsel Gish. Glen is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 10:30 A.M Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, The Rev. Philip Bouknight will officiate and interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park.
