Death of Mrs. M. A. Flock.
A host of Avoca people were grieving this morning to learn of the death of Mrs. M. A. Flock, of this place, which occurred at 5 o'clock at the West Side hospital, Scranton. Mrs. Flock had been in ill health for the past year and recently her ailment was diagnosed as an internal tumor. Her condition had been growing serious for some weeks past, and on Friday last she underwent and operation in the West Side hospital, from the effects of which she failed to rally. Mrs. Flock was 75 years of age. She was born in Blairstown, N. J., her maiden name having been Margaret Almeda Luce, and she had resided in Avoca during the greater part of her life. She was one of the best known residents of the town, and there is universal sorrow over her passing away. Mrs. Flock had been a resident of Avoca for the past 40 years and for 35 years of this period she had been engaged in the millinery business here. About six months ago she relinquished her business and went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. T. Anderson, wife of the Main street merchant. Mrs. Flock was the widow of Andrew Flock who died some 27 years ago. She was a woman of great industry and force of character, and by reason of her business relations here, she was well known to all of the residents of the town. She was a member of the Avoca M. E. church. She is survived by one son and one daughter--Frank A. Flock, who is a merchant on Academy street, Wilkes-Barre, and Mrs. J. H. Anderson, of this place. She is also survived by two brothers--Milton Luce, of Pittston, and Aaron Luce, of Marksburg, N. J. The time of the funeral will be announced later.
