Benjamin Hood Lounsbury
resident of Locust avenue for many
years, died at Grasslands Hospital,
Valhalla, at 7 a. m. Monday, aged
67 years. He had been in ailing
health for a year and during the
past four months was confined to
his bed. He had been a patient at
Grasslands six weeks.
Mr. Lounsbury was born at Mt.
Airy, September 7, 1871, a son of
Stephen Alonzo and Mary Hood
Lounsbury. He did farming practically
all his life and for fifteen years
was employed on the local Canfleld
estate. During the few years before
his last illness he was employed
by the Department of Highways
of the Town of Cortlandt. He
had resided on Locust avenue for
thirty-six years.
Surviving are his widow, Caroline
M. Lounsbury, his daughter,
Mary, both of Locust avenue, and
a sister, Mrs. Frank B. Horton of
Riverside, Conn.
The funeral service took place
Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Bartle |
Funeral Home, 843 Main street w*ih
the Rev. Kenneth B. Truran, pastor
of the First Methodist Church, of-
.Iciating. The interment followed
in Hillside Cemetery.
