Mona R. Ernst, age 95, of Normal, passed away at 5:50 a.m. of natural causes on Tuesday (Sept. 9, 2014) in Normal.
She was born Aug. 18, 1919 in Pandora, Ohio, the daughter of the Rev. Warren and Viola Anderson Shelly. She married Karl J. Ernst on June 23, 1951 at the Second Congregational Church, Grand Rapids, Michigan. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and five brothers and sisters.
Surviving are two children, John (Nancy) Ernstand Shelly (Bill) York and five grandchildren.
She attended public school in Carlock and graduated from Mattawan High School in Mattawan, Michigan. She attended college in Michigan. During World War II, she worked at day care and was an elementary school teacher in Michigan.
