Annie Kathleen “Kay” Beck passed away on September 9, 2014 while a resident of Newton Center.

Kay was born on December 30, 1924, the only child of Thomas and Mary Beck. A life-long resident of Sanford, she attended Sanford schools, and was a graduate of Sanford High School.

Kay never married, but spent most of her adult life caring for her parents and pursuing her professional career. She was employed for many years by the State of Maine working for the Employment Security Commission. During her lengthy career, she completed several management courses through the University of Maine to advance her skill level. She retired from the commission in 1988 at the age of 63.

Always impeccably dressed, Kay’s outfits coordinated from head to toe. Her beautiful head of snow white hair was never out of place. She had friends and cousins all across the United States and Canada, with whom she corresponded and visited.

Kay was a parishioner of St. George Episcopal Church in Sanford and continued to participate in church services and enjoyed religious music while a resident of Newton Center.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 18th at 11:00 at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Newton Center, for the outstanding care over the many years Kay was a resident.

Arrangements are under the direction of Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford-Springvale.
