In honor and memory of Pvt. Samuel Patton Speak who enlisted in Company I, Virginia 25th Cavalry Regiment CSA on 18 Apr 1863. Mustered out on 20 Nov 1864 at Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL. (Did not survive the war)Thank you for your service and ultimate sacrifice.

Samuel was the son of Samuel Patton Speak, Sr. (1809-1880) and Sarah Hardy Speak (1801-1861) of Rose Hill, Lee Co., VA.

On 19 Nov 1859 in Lee Co., VA.,Samuel Patton Speak, Jr. married Margaret Jane Lowe, daughter of Vincent Lowe and Martha Seybert Lowe of Lee Co., VA. Two daughers were born of this union, Martha Jane Speak 27 Jan 1860 and Cynthia Speak Oct 1860.
