Elizabeth L. “Betty” Rankin, 90, died Sept 5, 2014 at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute. She was born July 17, 1924 in Meriden, KS to Charles John Christian Hainbach and Evelyn Alice Egan Hainbach.

She attended school in Chanute, KS, graduating in 1942. She married Roy John Rankin in 1945. She retired from Colonial Acres Nursing Home after 13 years. She taught Sunday School for more than 40 years at First Church of God and was currently attending New Life United Brethren In Christ.




Survivors include daughters Sheila (Harley) Schlotterbeck, Petrolia, Elaine Fulton, Erie, Janice (Dwight) Carter, Augusta; sister Lucille Cox, Petrolia; grandchildren, Shane Cox, Petrolia. Lisa (Luke) Wayland, Boston, Chad (Madeline) Carter, Shenzhen, China; great-grandchildren Jolene and Jim Cox and Hannah Carter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughters Terry Lynn and Vickie Jo Rankin and Gloria Anderson, and son-in-law Buford Anderson, grandson Larry Dean Cox and a sister Karline Gallagher.

Funeral service will beTuesday, September 9, 2014, 1:30 p.m. at the Countryside Funeral Home-Gibson Chapel in Chanute. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Chanute.

Countryside Funeral Home Johnson Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Family suggests memorials to the Cherry Street Youth Center and may be left with or mailed to the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.countrysidefh.com.
