William had property in PA and was part of the underground railroad. He lived in Upper Providence township, directed his passengers from a concealment under the bridge of his barn up the road a short distance to Thomas Hopkins' place just west of Arcola. A google book says he was a Quaker, contentious, and not well loved. There was also a google book presenting a law case regarding his estate brought to the court by his daughter, Harriet Adeatha Taylor Rambo.
