Carrie is the daughter of
Liberty U. Dragoo and his wife
Celestia Ann Hunniker, of Buchanan
township, Berrien County Michigan.
Carrie was the eldest of their
seven children.

June 21, 1885, in Berrien Springs,
Berrien County Michigan, by
Sidney C. Davis, Minister.
(Both Carrie and Peter were listed
as being "of" Oronoko Township).

George H. Ewalt (1833-1902),
and his wife Mary Kemmerer.

(Her mother Carrie and her twin
brother Peter Ewalt Jr., both died
the day after Ethel's birth).
In the 1900 census, Ethel is living
with her father's mother Mary Ewalt,
in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
m. Herman Arthur Hattenbach, son of
John Hattenbach and Caroline Etzert,
on March 14, 1908, in Berrien Springs,
Berrien County Michigan.
Children: Eva M., John H, and
Mary "Caroline" Hattenbach.
d. Ethel died July 15, 1924, in
Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan,
at the age of 38
(per her death certificate).
Buried: Oak Ridge Cemetery,
(next to her husband Herman,
their daughter Eva M., and
Herman's second wife Henrietta
(in Section A, Lot 318).
(In her father Peter's obituary,
it states that Ethel was from a
"previous" marriage).

on Jan. 23, 1886,
the same day as his mother Carrie.
He is buried next to his mother.

township (N. of Buchanan, and West
of Berrien Springs),
Berrien County Michigan,
from childbirth (after giving birth
to twins), at the age of
21 years, 4 months, and 29 days,
(per her death certificate).
(The headstone says
"21 YRS. & 6 MOS.").
Peter [Sr.] and Carrie had been married
for only seven months when Carrie died.

is located at the Berrien County
Historical Association in Berrien
Springs, Berrien County Michigan.
It gives her date-of-death
as Jan. 23, 1886, as does her

be Jan. 23] age 21 years.

Note: The cemetery records (and the
cemetery office personal), had stated
that Carrie had no headstone, but thanks
to the wonderful efforts of Deborah,
the "graveyard-angel" who throughly
cleaned the headstone that we thought
"might" be Carrie's, we now know for
sure, that Carrie does indeed have a
headstone! Thank you Deborah!!!
