Ruby N. Vaughn, 91, of Amarillo died Monday, March 6, 2006. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, Dr. Winfred Moore, pastor emeritus, and the Rev. B.L. Davis, retired pastor and former director of the Amarillo Baptist Association, officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Vaughn was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Reed, Okla., to J.C. and Pearl Moseley. She married Cleo Vaughn on Oct. 19, 1935. On Oct. 19, 2005, Paul Harvey's news broadcast told of the Vaughns' 70th wedding anniversary on all six continents. Mrs. Vaughn lived in Amarillo for 66 years. She helped her husband for four years in establishing Vaughn Plumbing Company. She had a great heart toward evangelistic missions as a girl. She and her husband worked in the Industrial City Mission out of Pierce Street Baptist Church in Amarillo for 10 years. Mrs. Vaughn and her husband continued with their mission work at Buchanan Street Baptist, Roberts Street Mission and Friendship Baptist and were co-founders of Highland Baptist Church in Amarillo. Mrs. Vaughn superintended several vacation Bible schools each summer in Amarillo. In their later years, they worked with the First Baptist Church of Amarillo Singles' Department and Marriage Enrichment Program. God granted her a long and useful life in His service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and three brothers.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Vaughn of Amarillo; three grandchildren, David Vaughn, Barry Vaughn and wife Myra, all of Amarillo, and Melante Silva and husband Antonio of Denver, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Melissa Bowyer, Christi DeBusk, Robert Vaughn and Stephen Vaughn; and three great-grandchildren, Brennan, Hudson and Aubrey.

The family suggests memorials be to Gideons International Bible Society, 2200 S.W. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106.
