William was an active member of the community, and was a Captain in the county militia, so Elizabeth likely was a hostess on many occasions when his colleagues visited their home, which became part of Monroe Co., VA/WV when Greenbrier was split in 1799.
In 1807-1808, William moved their family to TN, and some of their children were living in Monroe Co., TN & Claiborne Co., TN a few decades later. There's no record of when or where he died, but some speculate that he was buried in Monroe Co., TN since his wife died there. The 1850 Census Mortality Schedule for that county states that Elizabeth Maddy was age 85 when she died of old age in May 1850. It's likely that she was living with her daughter in that county, Nancy Page Laughlin (1800-1876, wife of Thomas Price Laughlin). Some Maddy descendants speculate that Elizabeth was living with another daughter when she died, Mary Ann Yoakum/Yocam, but she died in 1848.

Her full name was found in bible records of a descendant. She was born 9/16/1767 according to those same bible records. She out lived her husband William Maddy. She and William are probably buried in or near Madisonville but their graves and headstones have never been located.
