Joe Lynn Allen, 55, of Mexia, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Mexia. The Rev. Marcus Sheffield will officiate with interment to follow at Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Mar 7 at the funeral home.

Joe was born in Mexia, Texas, to Joe D. and Mary Frances (Morrow) Allen. He graduated from Mexia High School in 1969 and then attended the University of Texas for three years. On Feb. 28, 1976, he married Debra Sue East. Joe was in the construction business for 30 years and was co-owner of Allen & Shrivers Excavation. He was of the Christian faith.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sue Allen.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Debra Sue, of Mexia; son, Christopher Lynn Allen, of Las Vegas, Nev.; daughters, Rebecca Darlene Allen, of Austin and Stacie Guandique and husband, Israel, of Temple; granddaughters, McKenzie and Jayden Guandique, of Temple; parents, Joe D. and Mary Frances Allen, of Mexia; brother, Jerry Ray Allen and wife, Donna; and nieces, Lacy Allen and Brandi Jones, of Mexia.
