Howard McCain
Howard McCain died Monday evening at the family home, north of this city, after a year's illness with kidney trouble. He was fifty-two years, ten months and nine days old.
The funeral was conducted Wednesday from the home, Rev. Baech officiating. Burial in Oddfellows' cemetery.
Deceased was a man of fine and lovable character. It seems that Providence had made his path unusually painful. Ten years ago two of his daughters died of consumption within several months time. A year or so later his son was killed by lightning. He is survived by a widow, five children, five brothers and one sister.
Note: James Howard McCain was known as "Howard". This was due to the fact that he and his uncle shared the exact same name. His uncle, James Howard McCain, was born in 1842 and died in 1911.
