Frank Warren Hilgardner, 79, passed from the bonds of Earth to meet his heavenly Father on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. His family had the honor and the privilege to be at his bedside as he made this peaceful transition. Visitation will be from 10-noon, Tuesday, September 9th at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, KCK, with Masonic services at 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at noon at the funeral home, with burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Christian Church.
Frank graduated from Argentine High School and was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church. His family was involved in the 1951 flood and because of this, Frank went to Argentine, where he met the love of his life, Nancy Ann Carroll. They were a couple for over 63 years. Frank was a meat-cutter by trade, a member of the Meat Cutters Union and retired from the Apple Market in 1998. He was the Cub Scout Master of Pack 3140, a Past Master of the Rosedale Masonic Lodge, a Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Abdallah Shrine and a past patron of the Abdiel O.E.S. Frank was also an assistant and coach of his children's softball teams. He loved his family, his yard and his sofa companions, Zoey and Sofie.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Odessa Hilgardner and brother Robert Thomas Hilgardner. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Ann; sons, Frank W. Hilgardner (Darla), Thomas J. Hilgardner, Robert D. Hilgardner (Jennifer); daughter, Elizabeth Ann Heriford (Jon); sister, Shirley Allan (Ross Attkison); sister-in-law, Nola Hilgardner; as well as six grandchildren, Jon W. Heriford (Annika), Kevin T. Heriford (Julia), Thomas J. Hilgardner (Cher), Nancy Jolene Easton (Scott), Teryn Hilgardner Fauss (fiancé Chad) and Katherine E. Zeh (Austin) and nine great-grandchildren.
