William A. Coffey, 94 of Edgewood Summit, died September 10, 2003, at the Hubbard Hospice House.

He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Helen Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, served in World War II and retired with the rank of commander in the Naval Reserves.

He retired from C & P Telephone Co. after 39 years of service. He was active in the Telephone Pioneers.

He was associated with the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award of Recognition.

He was a member of Village Chapel Presbyterian Church where he was an elder.

He enjoyed stamp collecting and was former president of the Ships on Stamps unit. He organized and served as executive director of an international stamp club.

He is survived by a son, William E. Coffey and wife, Tatiana of Long Beach, Calif.; daughters, Nancy Martin and husband, Kirby of Charleston and Diane Snider and husband, Jim of Greensboro, N.C.; grandchildren include Jim Martin and wife, Charlene of Richmond, Va., Karen Proctor and husband, John of Huntington, Elizabeth Coffey of Huntington, Kate and Rachel Snider of Greensboro, N.C.; great-grandchildren include Shannon Martin and Emily, Pete and Ethan Proctor.

Services will be at Village Chapel Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12th. Family will greet visitors after the service. Rev. Frank Mansell, Jr. will officiate.

Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
