Sylvester Hines Rites Held At Strawberry

STRAWBERRY POINT (Special) — Sylvester Hines, 72, former resident of Cox Creek township, Clayton county, died August 8, at the home of. his daughter, Mrs. Howard Bacon, 1510 Washington Avenue, S. E., Cedar Rapids, after a long illness. Born January 29, 1878, in Clayton county, he was the son of Louie and Lavona Fox Hines. He was married in 1896 to Alvina Stone, who preceded him in death. Mr. Hines has lived with his daughter in Cedar Rapids for the past three years.

Funeral services were held today at 2:00 p. m. at the Gill Chapel and interment will be made in the Cox Creek cemetery near Strawberry Point.

Survivors include seven daughters, three sons and two brothers; the daughters are Mrs. Tommy (Emma) Cush, Manchester; Mrs. William (Maggie) Carnicle, Edgewood; Mrs. Howard (Lottie) Bason, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Everett (Josephine) Bacon, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Edward (Irene) Harms, Marion; Mrs. Ruben (June) Nelcon, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Everett McMonigle, Strawberry Point. The sons are Delbert and Roberto of Strawberry Point and Willis of Spooner, Wisconsin. The brothers are Lester Hines of Manchester and Orville of Strawberry Point.
