John Zingerline, 709, of 7595 Gifford Road, Rome, who was injured in a two-car crash May 18, in the town of Vienna, that also claimed the life of his wife, died yesterday
afternoon in Rome City Hospital.
The accident occurred at Kimball and Powell roads, Gladys Zingerline, 70, was pronounced dead in the Rome City Hospital shortly after the accident. She was taken there by the McConnellsville Rescue Squad ambulance.
John Zingerline had been listed in Critical condition since the accident. He died at 3:10 p.m. yesterday, a hospital spokes woman said.
John Zingerline was driving north on Kimball Road when his car was struck broadside by one driven by Edward Sheppard, 23, of Deeley Road, Blossvale, police said. The Sheppard car was westbound on Powell Road and ran a stop sign, Trooper M,. A. Tynan said.
After the collision, both cars landed against a tree. Firefighters, from McConnellsville and North Bay worked for about 30 minutes to free the Zingerline's from their car.
Two of the three passengers in Sheppard's car sustained injuries. His sister, Tammy Sheppard, 21, and his daughters, Amanda 2, both suffered heard injuries. There were treated at Rome City Hospital and later released. Sheppard's son, Brian Sheppard, 3, was not injured
