Robert Baird (II) was born April 18, 1831 in the parish of Ballintoy, Antrim, Ireland (Northern Ireland), the sixth of seven children born to Robert Baird (I), and Agnes McGowan. In about 1844, the family of Robert Baird (I) moved to Glasgow, Scotland. Robert married Jane Cumming on July 8, 1853. Jane Cumming was a native of Glasgow. Following their marriage, Robert (II) and Jane settled in Greenock Scotland. It was in Greenock, that their oldest son, Robert Baird (III) was born in 1854. In approximately 1857, the Robert Baird Family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and in 1863, they began emigrated from Scotland to the United States, aboard the ship, "Cynosure". They eventually settled in Heber City, Utah, where Robert and Jane lived out their days.
