UFA Librarian Dies In Rochester After Few Weeks Illness
Miss Dorothy Slocum, 37, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. M. M. Slocum, Utica and Barneveld, died yesterday in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, after an illness of a few weeks.
Miss Slocum was a teacher and more recently served as librarian in Utica Free Academy.
Miss Slocum was born in Barneveld June 13, 1896. When a girl she went with her parents to Far Rockaway where she spent several years. She returned with her people in this section of the country some years ago. Miss Slocum was a graduate of Cazenovia Seminary, St. Lawrence University and attended Russell Sage College. Miss Slocum took a special course in Drezel Institute, Philadelphia, also in preparation for her chosen work. She attended the Presbyterian Church.
She was one of twin sisters, the other being Gertrude, wife of Edison M. Collins, Barneveld. Utica Free Academy Parent-Teacher Association at its meeting last night drafted a resolution of sympathy for her family.
The body was taken to her home in Barneveld last night.
