Leonard N. Futey 'PaPa', 78, of Point Place/Shoreland Community, was taken by the angels on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 and placed into the arms of his Savior while surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was born on July 31, 1936 in Toledo, OH to Mary (Gajewski) and Dennis Futey. Leonard worked for 34 years for the former Kuehnle Lumber Company and for 20 years for S & S Building Supply retiring in 2004. He served selflessly in the Naval Reserve for his country and we are forever grateful. Leonard loved the outdoors and truly enjoyed his time hunting, fishing and camping. He had a smile and a joke for everyone and no matter how your day was going, if you ran into Leonard, your day became brighter. However, more than all those things, the most precious time he spent was with his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving Leonard is his beloved bride of 57 years, Sharon (Meyer) Futey; children, Linda (Futey) Stanley, Leonard (Suzette), Mark (Randi), and Kenneth (Tina) Futey; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Ann) Futey; and special brother-in-law, Vern Meyer. He was reunited with his parents; brothers, Joseph Sam and Virgil; and his sister, Phyllis Wisnewski. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 2-7 p.m. in David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611. Funeral Services will begin at 7 p.m. that same evening with Father Anthony Borgia officiating. Interment is private. Those wishing to make a contribution in Leonard's memory are directed to Hospice of NW OH, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551. Words of encouragement, fond memories, or photos may be placed for the family to receive at www.jasinfuneralhome.com
