Wayne R. Ankenbruck, 71, died Wednesday, October 03, 2007 at Hospice Home.

Born in Fort Wayne, he graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1954, received an Associate Degree from Indiana Business College. He was the former owner of Beltone Hearing Services for 25 years. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and St. Anthony of Pudua in Angola, Indiana, EAA Experimental Aircraft Association, AOPA Aircraft Owners and Pilot Association and was an U.S. Air Force veteran and member of the Air Force Reserves. Wayne touched the lives of many with his knowledge of business and flying. He enjoyed the Airshows at Osh Kosh and Sun-N-Fun. He loved life and was always busy with some projects. His favorite past time was spent building and flying airplanes. His love of flying began many years ago, and took him on a journey that lead to a dealership with Sea Rey Aircraft of Florida. He loved his seaplane and spent a lot of time flying in and around Lake James. He enjoyed roller blading, bike riding, walking. He was happiest when doing any type of water activities with his children and grandchildren. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include wife, Sondra Ankenbruck of Fort Wayne; son, Mark (Julie Dee) Ankenbruck of Fort Wayne; daughter, Vicki (Keith) Ovitt of Wheaton, IL; Brenda; and step-daughter, Tanja of Fort Wayne; 6 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry Ankenbruck of Fort Wayne, and Ron (Cathy) Ankenbruck of Lake James, Angola; sister, Mary Matthias of Fort Wayne; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard J. and Marcella L. Ankenbruck; and son, Dereck W. Ankenbruck.

Mass of Christian Resurrection 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church, E. State Blvd. at Randallia Drive with calling one hour prior, Fr. Thomas Shoemaker officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with Vigil at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
