Mrs. Laelius Stallings Davis

Mrs. Laelius Stallings Davis, age 102, of Newnan, Ga., died Oct. 3, 2012. Mrs. Davis was born in Newnan, Ga., on Jan. 21, 1910, daughter of Judge William L. Stallings and Ruth Powel Stallings. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jannar B. Davis, Newnan attorney. Mrs. Davis graduated from Newnan High School in 1927 and from Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Ga., in 1931, with post-graduate work at Duke University and the University of Georgia. She taught Latin and English classes for several years at Newnan High School. She was a life-long and devoted member of the Newnan Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Newnan Reading Circle. Survivors [not shown for privacy]. Mrs. Davis was blessed with the love, support and friendship in her last years of the staff and caregivers at Wesley Woods of Newnan from 1998 to 2002 and Atria-Johnson Ferry, Marietta, Ga., from 2002 to present. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at McKoon Funeral Home with Rev. Harry Barrow officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., prior to the service, at McKoon Funeral Home in Newnan. It is respectfully requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Davis' memory to the Newnan Presbyterian Church, Greenville Street, Newnan, Ga.
