Edward Madell was born in County Cavan, Ireland in 1863. His family came to the United States in 1872 and settled in Savona; he moved to Wayland about 1889 and worked with the Erie Railroad. He was track supervisor of the Bath-Avon division when he retired. He was a Mason and a member of the railroad union.
Surviving Mr. Madell were a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Seward of Springwater; two brothers, William Madell of Rochester and Robert Madell of Elmira; a sister, Mrs. Joseph Dimmick of Savona. Burial was in Savona cemetery.
