Frederick Clayton Butterfield was the son of Fred. H. and Lucy (Bullock) Butterfield. He was born in Angelica and moved to Wayland about 1921.

Mr. Butterfield died in Wayland Hospital from injuries received when his car skidded off the icy road about a mile north of Wayland. Three others in the car, including his wife, were not seriously injured.

Surviving Mr. Butterfield were his wife, Jane Emily McColl [Madell] Butterfield; his father; a brother Claude and a sister Ruth, all of Wayland. Burial in Wayland cemetery.
