Born in Middletown, RI on July 18, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Robert Henry Culipher and Rose Marie Perry Culipher.
Karen worked for the Newport School System for over 15 years as a para-educator.
She was also a Girl Scout Leader for more than ten years.
In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and playing with her devoted dog, Rosco.
She was a loving wife for 33 years to her husband, Anthony Benvenuto.
She is also survived by her children, Anthony Benvenuto of Middletown, RI, and Meredith (Mrs. Michael) Botelho of Portsmouth, RI; and her brother, James A. Culipher of Middletown, RI.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Grand Islander Health Care Center for being so compassionate and generous to Karen.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 4-7:00 p.m. in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at 8:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by Liturgy of the Word at 9:00 a.m. at St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown.
Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.
