ALEXANDRIA, IN-Lola Miller Wright, 88, passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Robin Run Village in Indianapolis following an extended illness.

She was born on May 19, 1926 in Springfield, Tennessee to George Menees Miller and Lennie (Wilson) Miller. She has lived in Alexandria most of her lifetime. She and her late husband Orville Wright farmed east of Alexandria for several years.

She was a member of the Omega Nu Tau Sorority formerly in Alexandria. She was a long time and active member of the Alexandria First United Methodist Church where was a member of the robed choir. Lola had been a member of the Girls Scouts of America since the age of 10 all the way through senior scouts. She has served as a Girl Scout leader. Lola researched her family history to discover that she had an ancestor, Thomas Farmer that was a Revolutionary War soldier, which enabled her to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was privileged to discover Thomas Farmer's headstone near family burial plots in Tennessee. Lola had also worked as a columnist for the Alexandria Times-Tribune.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-Orville C. Wright on July 3, 1986; she was married to Earl E. Guilkey but a sudden illness took his life after only 10 months together, 4 brothers-Chester Miller, Patrick Miller, Fred Miller, George Miller, 2 sisters-Mary Louise Bellemore and Francis Loraine Hulse.

Service honoring Lola's life will take place at 10 am on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with the Rev. Edsel Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery at Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home on Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm.
