The Life and Times of Turner Ferrell Fleming

Turner Ferrell Fleming was born 09 March 1921 near Ledbetter, Lee County, Texas the fourth of six children born to the marriage of Harvey Carroll Fleming and Estella Fae Wilson Fleming. Turner Ferrell's siblings are James Frank born 04 March 1911, Charles Vernon born 12 December 1914, Artie Lorine born 23 May 1918, Carroll Hertel born 04 August 1923 and Robert Milligan born 12 January 1926.

Ferrell as he is known to family and friends attended schools in Minerva, Waco, and Rockdale. Turner Ferrell enlisted in the Air Corp at Randolph AFB 29 July 1940. Following World War II he returned to Civilian Life working for the Telephone Company In the Austin area. Turner returned to the United States Air Force serving in Arizona, Alaska and Alabama. In 1954 Turner Ferrell married Dorothy Martin; they made their home in Mobile, Alabama where Turner Ferrell worked for the State of Alabama. Following the death of his wife Dorothy in 1999, Turner Ferrell moved to Central Texas in April 2000 to be near his brothers, nieces and nephews.

Turner Ferrell is preceded in death by his parents Harvey Carroll Fleming and Estella Fae Wilson Fleming who both died in the mid 1950's; three brothers Frank, Charlie and Carroll, only sister Artie Fleming McKey. Turner Ferrell is survived by his son Billy Carroll Fleming of Cloverdale, California; one brother Robert M. Fleming and his wife Nell Wier Felming; two grandchildren, great-grandchildren along with nieces and nephews and extended family members who called him "Uncle Ferrell" and loved him dearly.

Turner Ferrell Fleming died August 31, 2014 at Austin, Texas and will be buried in the Fleming Family plot in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rockdale, Milam County, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Turner Ferrell's son, William "Billy" Carol Fleming and nephews: (son of brother Charlie) Frank and his son Stephen; (son of brother Carroll) Shelley; (son of brother Robert) Michael and his son Matthew Fleming.
