Laura learned the value of hard work at a very early age and had never forgotten it! She continued to live with her parents and worked in the local factory making pants, shoes and hats, just to name a few. She often ran two machines at once and nobody could keep up with her. In later years, she worked in the green thumb program at school and cleaned her beloved church, St. John United Church of Christ, where she was a longtime member.
Laura never owned a car and over the years, she walked “thousands of miles” to and from work, church and shopping. She learned the Chamois streets when she was very young, delivering bottled milk to customers. Laura has followed Christ’s teachings and examples of serving and giving. She has given of herself to all who came in contact with her by babysitting, sharing food from her gardens, pecan pies for church or funeral luncheons ~ just to name a few. She loved animals and was a haven for stray kittens, some of which became very special pets. Laura also had a great sense of humor.
She is survived by six nieces: Linda, Sandy, Judith, Lola, Carol and Bonnie and one nephew, Roger and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Elsie Langendoerfer, Alma Biesemeier, Oscar Biesemeier and Major Henry Biesemeier
Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the St. John United Church of Christ in Chamois.
Funeral services will follow on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Deborah Pope officiating. Interment will be held in the St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the St. John United Church of Christ.
