Frank Merkel lived in Canada and died there. Never married. Visited Loyd Merkel's family twice in Indiana per Loyd Merkel son of Frank's brother Jacob "Jake" Merkel.

MERKEL--June 4th, Frank Merkel, aged 83 years, of 8507 Fairmount Drive, formerly of Rockyford, in a local hospital. Born at Celestine, Indiana, Mr. Merkel came to the Rockyford district in 1914 where he farmed until moving to Calgary one month ago.
Surviving are two brothers, Bart Merkel, Drumheller, and Felix Merkel, Evansville, Ind.; three nieces, Mrs. H. Buechler, Calgary, Mrs. John Yackly, Drumheller, and Mrs. Howard German, California; two nephews, Emil and Cletus Merkel, Drumheller.
