Lyle had worked as the longtime owner and operator of Veterans Radio Cab in Maquoketa from 1950 to 1985, as well as the owner of Hillside Trailer Court in Maquoketa from 1956 to 2000.
Lyle was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Maquoketa. He enjoyed gardening, mowing yards and was known for his sharing of stories and storytelling. He was an avid collector of many things, and liked "playing" the stock market, investing and trading stocks. In the years of his taxicab business he always enjoyed the people and built relationships with many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ralph and Elroy, and a sister Elva.
