Mr. Fleming Dudley died at his home on Ninth Street on Monday.
His death was caused by a ruptured blood vessel, and death occurred a few minutes after he was stricken.
About a year ago Mr. Dudley was seriously ill for some time and had never fully recovered.
Yesterday morning he was engaged in work about the house, when he was stricken, death occurred almost immediately.
He was born and reared in Marion county and lived his entire life in Marion county, with the exception of two years when he resided in Harrison county.
He was a carpenter by trade, and was a son of the late Enoch Dudley, a resident of Dunkard Mill run.
He was born on July 11, 1825, and was married on his birthday July 11, 1858, to Miss. Sarah Anne Boggess.
He is survived by his wife and five children: Mrs. A. M. Kuhn, of Fairmont; H. F. Dudley, of Ruston, Louisiana; A. L. B. Dudley, of Fairmont; Miss Cora Dudley, and Mrs. Harry Gaston, also of Fairmont.
He is also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Amelia Parrish, Miss Mary D. Dudley, of Fairmont; Mrs. A. M. Goodwin, of Rowlesburg.
The deceased served as a soldier in the Civil War, belonging to Company A, First West Virginia Cavalry.
He was a member of the Meade Post, No. 6, G.A.R., and of the M. E. Church.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at the residence, at the conclusion of the service the remains will be taken to Gilboa, and buried in the Gilboa Cemetery.
