Oliver's death notice in the Piscataquis (Maine) Observer on April 9, 1857, states that Deacon Oliver Woodward had died March 5 in Rockford, Minnesota, and that he was formerly of Guiliford, Maine.

Oliver was son of Mr. and Mrs. Eleazar Woodard. Eleazar was born in Connecticut and died in Vermont.

Oliver and Sarah were married the 27th of either May or April in 1809. They bore ten known children:
Sarah, born 30 September 1811
Elvira, 4 July 1813
Jane D., about 17 June 1814
Cynthia, 18 February 1917
Oliver II, 16 November 1818
John, 5 August 1820
Lucinda, 30 August 1823
Lydia S., 30 September 1826
Mary Houston, 11 May 1830
Catherine Stevens, 15 Oct 1831

Lucinda married Joel Florida, and after she died her sister Catherine married Joel.
