He graduated from Dodge City High School and took engineer school with the U.S.Navy. Skeeter worked for several counties as an engineer and mechanic including Greenwood,Reno,Hodgeman and Ford counties. He also drove a schoolbus for Dodge City and was a "Jack of All Trades". He served in the U.S.Navy from 1958 to 1962. On May 2,1997, he married Anna Wordelman.
Skeeter was preceded in death by his parents, William and Wilma Avritt and a brother, Allen M. Avritt.
A memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday,August 30,2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Memorials are to Phillip K. "Skeeter" memorial fund in care of Swaim Funeral Home,Dodge City,KS.
