John Eades was a ship carpenter from Lawford, Essex Co., England where he was baptized April 6, 1651, after his birth March 31 of the same year. The details of his arrival in America are not known, although he eventually settled in Charletown, MA. He married Mary Tufts in 1674 with whom he had 6 children. He was one of 6 absentee men impressed for war in 1675.

In a deed of 4 Jan /1718, "Mary Edes of Charlestown...widow of Jno Eades..and Edward Edes of Boston...Joyner & Peter Edes of Medford...yeoman Jonathan Edes of Marblehead...cordwainer & Thomas Willett of Boston...cordwainer & Charles Waker (sic) of Charlestown...Joyner," convey to John Edes, cordwainer, son of said Mary Edes and brother of the others, for 65 pounds, certain rights in land. Signed by Charles Wager and wife Sarah; Mary Edes; Mary Willett; Susanna Edes and the others...
