PJ: 2/11/1985: Bemus Point: Richard F. Swanson, 67, of Bemus-Ellery Road, Bemus Point, died at 7:3He 5 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 9, 1985) in his home, following a lengthly illness. For 25 years he and his brother, Kenneth Swanson, operated a farm in Cassadaga. Later he was employed at the Pennzoil Station on Fluvanna Avenue. Swanson was born Feb. 19, 1917 in Cassadaga, a son of Edwin and Anna Anderson Swanson, residing in Bemus Point for the past 25 years. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Bemus Point, where he was a member of the church council, was an usher and served on the church properties committee. Swanson was a member of the National American Association of Retired Persons. Surviving are his wife, the former Bernice Johnson, whom he married April 5, 1945; two daughters: Elaine Crossley of Frewsburg and Mary Housholder of Evans City, Pa.; two grandchildren: William and Sharyl Crossley, at home; two brothers: Herman and Kenneth Swanson of Cassadaga; and two sisters: Esther Bosshardt of Bradenton, Fla.; and Harriet Waite of Cassadaga.
