Truxton Allen, 77, of Granite City died at 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 4, 1993 at Anna Henry Nursing Home, Edwardsville, after being ill for more than a year.

Allen was born June 16, 1916, in Granite City, where he had been a lifelong resident. A supervisor of the shipping department at National Lead and NL Industries in Granite City for 40 years, he retired July 1, 1976.
He was a member of Niedringhaus Methodist Church in Granite City and American Legion Post 113 in Granite City and was a World War II Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores (Summerton) Allen, whom he married June 1, 1940, in Granite City; one son, Larry T. Allen of Collinsville; one brother, the Rev. Robert Allen of Whiting, Ind.; and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Eva (Smith)
'Allen; and one brother, Lynn Allen, who died in 1991.

Services are at 11 a.m. today at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, with the Rev. Bruce Rushing officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon.

Memorials are requested for Niedringhaus Methodist Church, Granite City, or the American Cancer Society.
