Thomas Allen Wendell, 84, of Shrewsbury, passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.

He was retired from CSX Chessie System, where he worked in the track maintenance department, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hudnall Wendell; daughters, Vonna Dale and Nancy Buner; parents, Charles Andrew and Nellie Boggess Wendell; brother, Charles Wendell; and grandson, Bobby Barber Jr.

He is survived by his son, Marvin (Laura) Wendell of Belle; daughters, Donna (Randy) May of St. Albans and Peggy (Bobby) Barber of Powellton; two brothers; three sisters; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Service will be noon Friday, Aug. 29, at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Old Fort St., Cedar Grove, with the Rev. Joe Hubbard and the Rev. Donald Lanham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Montgomery Memorial Park, London.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the funeral home.
